General Submission Requirements*

You may submit original work in any of the categories listed below. Previously published material is welcome as long as you currently hold the rights; if the work is under consideration elsewhere, please check that publication’s policies on simultaneous submissions and previously published work before sending it to us. Submissions must be your own work, and you should be able to confirm that you hold the rights to share it.

Please send your submission as a DOCX or ODT file (for writing) or a high-quality JPEG (for artwork). For example: Name_Title.docx. Send it as an attachment, rather than in the body of your email. We do not accept PDF files. We ask that writing be in standard manuscript format: your name or pen name and contact information on the first page, the title of the work, and an approximate word count. Poetry may follow its natural line breaks and spacing. If you are submitting nonfiction that quotes or references outside sources, please cite them consistently; Chicago style is preferred but not required.

Include a brief cover letter in the body of your email. This should tell us your name (and pen name, if applicable), the title of your piece, the approximate word count, a brief synopsis, and a short author bio. Prior publication credits are optional.

For fiction, we consider short work up to 3,000 words. Longer pieces may be considered on a case-by-case basis. We are open to a range of styles and genres, including literary, horror, psychological, speculative, and general narrative work.

For poetry, you may submit up to five poems at a time in a single file. If you are sending a longer or epic poem, one substantial piece is sufficient. Please make sure line breaks and spacing appear as you intend.

For nonfiction, we accept personal essays, memoir, commentary, and reflective work. As with fiction, about 3,000 words is a good upper range, though longer pieces may occasionally be considered. If your work relies on facts, quotations, or outside sources, please credit them clearly.

For artwork, please send high-quality JPEG images. Clear scans or photographs are fine as long as the image is sharp and legible on a screen. You must hold the rights to the artwork you submit.
